Pray for Wildfires
Call out to God on behalf of those most affected by wildfires.
Use this guide to pray for wildfires around the world, but we would suggest that you make it a bit more local and begin to intercede for the wildfires around you.
If you can, look up a map of your province and search for the wildfires in your area. You might like to print out the map and circle the wildfires, writing prayers on the paper as you work through this guide.
Pray for The Land
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
You may want to look up the names of the towns and cities near the wildfires in the area you are praying for, and spend some time praying for them by name.
As you pray for the land, here are some areas to focus on:
Healing: Pray for the scorched earth to be revitalized. Ask God to send rain to nourish the land and encourage new plant growth. Acknowledge the importance of healthy ecosystems and pray for the restoration of habitats for wildlife. (Psalm 104:14-15)
Protection: Pray for God’s intervention to create fire breaks and prevent the flames from reaching unburned areas. Ask for his wisdom to guide firefighters in their efforts to contain the blaze. (Psalm 91:4)
Pray for The Weather
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”
As you pray for the weather, here are some areas to focus on:
Calming Winds: Pray for calmer winds to aid firefighters in controlling the fire’s direction and prevent embers from igniting new spot fires. (Proverbs 27:20)
Gentle Rain: Pray for gentle, soaking rain to extinguish the flames and aid in the long-term recovery of the land. Acknowledge the dangers of flash floods and pray for rainfall that is beneficial without causing further damage. (James 5:18)
Pray for The People
“My spirit faints within me; my heart within me is desolate.”
As you pray for the people affected and displaced by the wildfires, here are some areas to focus on:
Comfort: Offer prayers of comfort and support for those who have lost their homes or livelihoods in the fire. Pray for God’s peace to wash over them during this difficult time. Acknowledge the emotional and spiritual toll of the fires and ask for God’s strength to help them cope. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Safety: Pray for the safety of everyone affected by the fires, including evacuees, those who remain in their homes, and firefighters battling the blaze. Pray for God’s protection from injuries, smoke inhalation, and other dangers associated with wildfires. (Psalm 91:1)

Pray for The Firefighters & Aid Workers
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”
As you pray for the firefighters and aid workers, here are some areas to focus on:
Strength and Stamina: Pray for firefighters and aid workers to have the physical and mental strength to endure long hours on the fire lines. Ask God to grant them resilience against fatigue and for their bodies to hold up during this challenging time. (Isaiah 40:29)
Wisdom and Strategy: Pray for wisdom for firefighters and incident commanders as they make critical decisions to contain the blaze and protect lives and property. Pray for clear communication and coordination among all those involved in the firefighting efforts. (Proverbs 2:6)
Protection: Pray for the safety of firefighters and aid workers as they battle the blaze. Pray that they are shielded from danger and kept safe from injuries, exhaustion, and accidents. (Psalm 34:7)
Pray for The Response
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
As you pray for the response to the wildfires, here are some areas to focus on:

Long-Term Recovery: Pray for a comprehensive plan for the long-term recovery of Jasper, including rebuilding homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Ask God to provide wisdom and guidance for those involved in the recovery process.
